Brewers Decorator Centres, the UK’s leading decorator’s merchant has extended their cancer support programme for employees by launching Reframe's cancer carer service, which will directly support any employees who are caring for a loved one with cancer.
The service, Care for Carers, will be available to all 1750 Brewers employees and builds on the existing comprehensive cancer support benefit that Brewers provides employees through Reframe.
Care for Carers will provide the following support:
Cancer carers are often juggling medical appointments and providing daily support, all whilst working and coping with their own fears. Carers work and provide care for an average of 12 months, provide an average of 69 hours of care per month and take 6.5 days off work per month to juggle their caring responsibilities. Their support is invaluable to a patient’s journey, and as cancer numbers rise, the number of working cancer carers will increase.
Mark Stephenson, CEO at Reframe Cancer commented: “Caring for someone with cancer whilst also working is extremely challenging, it can involve the management of complex treatments, emotional stress, and financial burdens. Being able to provide tailored support and advice to any employee who is selflessly doing this is an absolute must. Our insight shows that 65% of carers say they want a dedicated programme of support to help with their journey, as the number of carers will rise as cancer cases rise, we hope more employers will take this on board.”
Jane Clifford at Brewers Decorator Centres commented “We are pleased to offer the “Care for Carers” service to our colleagues. Whilst we have offered the Reframe cancer support service to colleagues for more than a year, it became apparent that we also needed to offer a service to those who are supporting a family member with their cancer journey. Seeing a family member go through diagnosis, treatment and recovery can have a huge impact, so we are hopeful that offering this service gives our colleagues crucial, sensitive and personal support in their role supporting their loved ones.”
