If you're worried about cancer, going through tests, have received a diagnosis or are supporting someone close to you - support from a cancer navigation specialist is available as part of your Unum policy.

How it works

  • 1. Register for support

    Complete Reframe Cancer's form to register for the service and access the Reframe app.

  • 2. Get in touch your way

    You can get support by phone, video call, online chat or email. Choose a time that suits you (Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm).

  • 3. Talk to a specialist

    You'll be supported by a trained cancer navigation specialist, usually available within 48 hours.

  • 4. Get clear guidance

    Over a series of up to six appointments, they'll help you understand your situation and next steps.

Reframe are a specialist cancer support organisation that helps people navigate the emotional, practical and personal realities cancer can bring. Reframe is a CQC-registered, nurse-led service that is clinically governed and confidential. Our team combine specialist knowledge and clinical expertise with human support. We help people feel less overwhelmed and more prepared for what comes next.

Someone who understands cancer and supports people through it every day — there to explain what’s happening, answer your questions, and provide clarity during a time of uncertainty. You’re speaking to someone experienced and trusted, based in the UK and working within a regulated, Care Quality Commission-registered service.

You can speak with the cancer navigation team for up to six appointments within a 12-month period. If you have a secondary cancer investigation or diagnosis, you can access a further 6 appointments during that 12 month period as needed.

Yes — you’re welcome to have someone you trust join the call.

Yes — the service can support you if you’re concerned about a loved one.

Anything about tests, possible diagnoses, next steps, treatment pathways, or what it all means in practice – focusing on general information and what to expect.

No — our team don’t diagnose or replace your medical team, but they can help you understand your situation and your options.

Yes — your conversations are private and confidential. Nothing is shared with your employer or insurer.

No. Reframe is an independent private organisation, dedicated to providing cancer support services. We’ve partnered with Reframe Cancer, building on a long-standing relationship, to provide this service – specialists who have supported over a million people in the UK through their cancer experience.

 

Unum is an employee benefit provider offering financial protection in the workplace. Unum partner with Reframe to deliver a comprehensive cancer offering to individuals covered by their insurance policies.

Reframe's cancer navigation specialists give practical advice such as how to manage sensitive conversations about cancer at work, or guidance on workplace adaptions and reasonable adjustments. They can also share factsheets, tips and helpful links from Reframe's library of resources.

While you can lean on us if you’ve had a tough day, we do not provide an in-house counselling service.

 

Our cancer navigation specialists are qualified Mental Health First Aiders and will offer initial support if you’re experiencing emotional distress. If you need professional counselling support, we’ll signpost you to counsellors available in your area. Where possible, we'll utilise the existing services and the benefits that you may have access to via your Unum insurance policy, or your workplace.

No. Cancer navigation is only available to the employee and their partner. Children are eligible up to their 18th birthday via their parent or can access the service themselves directly after their 18th birthday up to their 24th birthday if in full-time education.

 

Reframe Cancer’s personalised, private support plans are available to purchase independently, directly with Reframe - for you, your family or friends. Learn more about Reframe's private support plans.

Cancer navigation is available if you have a question or worry related to cancer, have a cancer diagnosis, are in treatment, recovery or remission.

You can contact us about yourself or if you're concerned about a loved one. Or if you’re a manager and need guidance to support an employee affected by cancer.

Our support team is available Monday to Friday, 9am-5:30pm (excluding bank holidays). If you need help outside of this you should contact your clinical team at the hospital, your doctor or consultant, or an emergency service.
