I have been a Registered Nurse for 25 years with training in Manchester. I gained my Specialist Palliative Care Nursing Degree with the University of the West of England.
Growing up, I had always thought I would join the police force but doing a period of voluntary work at a local care home made me rethink. I changed my direction, becoming very focused on nursing. It was in my second year of nurse training that I chose to work in oncology and palliative care.
During a placement, I witnessed a poor care experience and at that point knew I wanted to make sure that care was the best it could be for patients and their families.
I started my career in acute respiratory medicine to gain an NHS grounding and then progressed my career through hospice and third sector charities both in clinical roles and senior nurse leadership roles.
In my spare time I enjoy walking and going to the theatre.
