Learn more about Suzanne

I have always been interested in physiology of the human body and how medical intervention can help repair it when things go wrong – which led me to nursing. I have 20 years’ experience as a Specialist Cancer Nurse in the NHS and have also worked on medical and surgical wards in the Private sector. I was assigned to Southampton Hospital for extra training in administering chemotherapy.

When I was a patient myself, I noticed how much difference the individual approaches of healthcare professionals made to someone’s recovery. I wanted to be part of the team that made someone better.

When I was working on a Chemotherapy Unit, I would worry how my patients would cope at home with side effects on the days that they were not attending hospital and had no direct access to health professionals.

I find it very rewarding working for Reframe, having the time to really listen to our clients’ concerns, being able to provide very specific advice and reassurance on anything that is worrying them – from how to cope with nausea, continuing to exercise during treatment and allaying fears of returning to work or “normal” life once treatment is finished.

The advances in cancer treatment in recent years are so exciting, more people can now be treated and there is more hope than ever. I enjoy being part of a team that can improve someone’s experience and outcome.

Outside of work I like to be active, I enjoy tennis, yoga, skiing, abseiling and paddle boarding. I also like to visit the theatre and watch live music.
