My role in Reframe helps support people around their journey with cancer, help them navigate through the experience and essentially joining the dots from the time of diagnosis.
I have the unique privilege to be able to offer advice and a listening ear in the many different parts of their journeys. It enables me adapt to their situations and needs and just be patient.
I know that while it is difficult to make things better for them, I can make their journeys better with the support that is there through Reframe.
I trained in general medical -surgical nursing for the first 5 years of my nursing career, and then trained in Haematology and Oncology nursing for 10 years at the Royal Marsden NHS Trust, also working both in wards and day unit settings. I have worked in the private care unit. I then joined the Private hospital setting as an oncology nurse administering chemotherapy treatments and clinically assessing patients undergoing these treatments.
I worked closely with the Multi-disciplinary team as a clinical lead in the private hospital setting. This helps me understand the patient experience from the beginning, and essentially hold their hands all throughout their pathways.
I have always wanted to be a nurse since my mother has made me see the importance of this profession even as a child, and sadly losing her due to cancer has even strengthened this calling for me. I felt I had that guidance all along. Fast forward to today, I will never change that decision as this has given so much fulfilment.
I chose to work for Reframe because I feel that my experience and knowledge will make people’s lives affected by cancer better through the support I provide in many aspects, not limited to the time they spend having their treatments. It is support that is there when they struggle, when they feel they do not know who to ask or who to call, we are there to fill that gap.
In my spare time, I like to travel with family, and see different cultures and try different cuisines. It makes you gain a wide insight about life. I also love to do walks, I cook, bake and do a bit of gardening when the weather is up for it.
